  Public perception of GMO food: A Nationwide Chinese Consumer Study

Genetically modified (GM) technology is a highly controversial topic for today’s global food consumer. The commercial development of GM crops began in 1996 with GM corn and has expanded every year with the cultivation of GM crops. In 2016, global land use for GM crops reached 185.1 million hectors.1 Although GM foods had helped sustain the nutritional needs of human beings and farm animals and mounting evidence showed that GM foods were substantially equivalent to traditionally bred food sources, it has also sparked fierce debate about its safety. This has generated worldwide interest in finding a common and harmonious narrative to deal with new opportunities and challenges of biotechnology. A recent review of public perceptions of animal biotechnology,2 provides an excellent context for understanding public knowledge, attitudes, and perception of GM Food in China.

Consumer attitudes about GM food are complex and interwoven with the consumer’s knowledge of the science, lifestyle and public perception. Since 2002, surveys have been conducted in China on public acceptance of GM food from the perspective of consumer behavior, such as intent to purchase, presence of GM markers, and sensitivity to price point8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20,21,22,23 (Table 1). There has been a general lack of fundamental studies on the public’s scientific perception and policy interpretation of GM food. Moreover, the scope of previous surveys has been limited to a few of the largest cities in developed areas of China, with little or no coverage of rural areas. In all cases, the number of respondents in most of these earlier surveys was less than 1000. This study summarizes the status of GM food in China and provides the results of questionnaires that surveyed consumers from every province on their knowledge level, present attitudes, and future thoughts of GM food in China. A statistically relevant sample size of 2063 questionnaires were satisfactorily completed. The findings in this survey provide insight into Chinese consumers and offer a possible path for “smart” industrialization of GM technologies in China.

‘Revenge of the Sith’ Dubbed With Bootleg Chinese Dialogue Is a Fan-Made Masterpiece

YouTuber GratefulDeadpool redubbed the entire 2005 film using the mistranslated English-to-Mandarin dialogue.

Entitled Backstroke of the West Highlights Part 1 (Star War: The Third Gathers), the recut features such memorable lines as “I has been hating you,” from the villainous Count Dooku, and “The front is a lemon avenue flying straightly,” spoken by Obi-Wan Kenobi while piloting a careening starship.

Dorkly explains the bizarre translations likely “began with a machine translation of the Chinese script to [Revenge of the Sith], which attempted to literally translate from Mandarin to English, despite the multitude of barriers between the two languages.” The end result was great quips, such as “Smelly boy” from General Grievous to Kenobi and “Your dead period arrived, teacher” from a rebellious Anakin Skywalker during his fateful lightsaber duel with his master on Mustafar.

Backstroke of the West is a bootlegged version of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith that contains hilariously poor Chinese-to-English translated subtitles. This bootleg is most well-known for the line "Do not want," a mistranslation of Darth Vader's widely parodied "Noooooo!" I synced the subtitles and the dub to HD video of Revenge of the Sith. I've also added the pre-garbled English subtitles if you wish to compare this masterpiece to the original dialogue from Episode III. Enjoy!

You know the ones...the ones shown in the movies and on TV.  Made to look slick and perfect.  Men who understand the people of their communities and do the right thing for their neighbor.

 

What is the psychological structure of the American Police Officer?  What kind of individuals are most desired to serve this creed of force?  Intimidation and lies are the order of the day.  Tactics used, on purpose, against the ignorant to garner a negative emotional outburst giving the enforcer the reason to respond with his/her procedural programming! My altruistic sense tells me that our men in 'civilian' uniform are no longer policmen.  They have grown into an arm of a much larger beast.


Relying on denunciation to incriminate neighbor upon neighbor, family against family, for 'encoded' programmed behaviors within the semblence of law.  What is common law?  Common law is best served when it is simple and understandable to all.  Not just the chosen few who control the vast resource of knowledge learned from the tree in the garden.

It seems authorities have been instructed to count potential deaths from the Covid vaccines as Covid deaths if the individual in question does not receive the second jab. A majority of these deaths are sudden without any underlining symptoms of the flu that might be attributed to Covid 19.

Just as earlier in this mountain of mendacity, any fatality ranging from vehicle accidents, old age, and even cancer have been counted as Covid 19 deaths just to inflate the numbers. It seems a new way has been found serving a dual purpose for this entire fake narrative. They can cover up vaccine-related fatalities and pile on to the already heavily inflated Covid 19 deaths. 

That reminds me, can anybody please answer this simple question, what happened to the flu and all the fatalities that suddenly disappeared? Oh sorry, good questions are not allowed.
