Would you buy a robotic drink maker from these men? I sure would. These are the creators of Monsieur, a robotic bartender that will squirt out a great margarita or a nice Manhattan in about a minute using Android, a bunch of pumps, and some booze.

Not all the time. There are lots of places out there that make their own signature drinks. Best advice for that is to be polite and ask the customer what way he would like his drink mixed. This guy makes some good videos for people who work in the bar tending industry.

Social shortages? That's a good one. Interesting to think about. Have you considered your own behavior online when posting on social forums? Is it any different as compared to social interactions with real people? How much social interaction takes place during your day with real people. What is the setting for these interactions? Work? School? Events of one sort or another. Do you still post on the forums when you go out to entertainment establishments? Does your mobile smart screen dictate your life? How much has human interaction changed with the advent of online social clouds giving us access to each other through electronic means?

Nadine is a so-called social robot: a robot that can interact with humans and follows their social rules. She is a work in progress. Everything she learns has to be programmed. Right now, for example, Nadines creators are programming her to grasp things with her hands. This will enable her to play games or retrieve items, important skills for a robot that could be the prototype for a future companion or health care provider.



Non-human health care providers may have other advantages over humans in those roles. A 2014 University of Southern California study found that people were more willing to share personal health information with a virtual human on a screen than with an actual human during a mental health intake. The virtual human could show empathetic responses, facial expressions and body language, yet the participants felt it was less judgmental than an actual human in the same role.

From the mid-1960s through the mid-1970s, a number of films explored the borders between artificial intelligence and the human mind, and considered the implications of machines that could think, and even surpass the abilities of the humans that built them. But what of the body? Where Colossus, HAL, and others suggested that our brains might become outmoded instruments, the notion of machines able to imitate the human body lagged behind, at least for a while. Yet once androids found their way into movies, it became hard to shake the possibilities they raised, or their implications.



Walt Disney's contribution to the 1964 World's Fair was nothing less than the reincarnation of his hero, Abraham Lincoln, who, in the form of a robot, walked to a podium and delivered an address cobbled together from bits and pieces of the real Lincoln's famous speeches. Lincoln wasn't the only Disney robot in attendance. As Time noted in its cover story on the Fair, “Disney's realistic robots, in fact, stalk the fair. Pepsi-Cola has about 350 of them, doll-size, flanking a boat ride that children seem to like more than anything else. “The dolls, the article continues, “sing an original tune about the cohesion of the peoples of the world. That song, of course, is A Small World, but the chirpy, multinational children united in singing it were closer to puppets than robots.

As Early as 2016, Robot Cops Will Be Patrolling Your Streets…….No, Seriously


By 2016, there will likely be a 6-foot tall police robot patrolling the streets and handing out parking tickets. The Telebot, developed by Florida International University’s Discovery Lab, has been field-tested and is undergoing final tune up.

BTW, the propaganda push to get the public to accept this spin is by appealing to our emotions regarding disabled cops. So watch out, disabled robots will be handing out tickets at McDonald's before you even know it. That's just one step in the door.....imagine what the next steps will be!

I've always been impressed by automata. But I can only begin to imagine the reaction of people in 1585 no, that date isn't a typo when Hans Schlottheim's ship first sailed across a table. While automata can be disturbing because they very explicitly upset the boundaries between animate and inanimate, living and dead, human and inhuman, would these early examples have been seen as clever artifice or would their viewers have been briefly fooled by what they saw?
