Potentially Offensive!

Is it Illegal to Offend Someone?

University Police Officer: “It’s Illegal to Offend Someone”

In a move sure to excite millennials everywhere, the University of Texas police issued a disorderly conduct citation to a preacher for the heinous crime of “offending someone.”

What’s more, the preacher in question was not even ON campus, he was just near campus and directing his voice TOWARDS the campus.

And the officer, also not identified but clearly seen and heard in the video below, was plainly outside the law. So much so that the university police ultimately voided the citation and apologized to Joshua after the video went viral and they were contacted by a lawyer representing the intern. Yet this event reflects some very disturbing trends in America.

Contempt of cop

"Contempt of cop" is law enforcement jargon in the United States for behavior by people towards law enforcement officers that the officers perceive as disrespectful or insufficiently deferential to their authority. It is a play on the phrase contempt of court, and not an actual offense. The phrase is associated with unlawful arbitrary arrest and detention of individuals, often for expressing or exercising rights guaranteed to them by the United States Constitution. Contempt of cop is often discussed in connection to police misconduct such as use of excessive force or even police brutality as a reaction to perceived disrespectful behavior rather than for any legitimate law enforcement purpose.

Some religions in this world take offensive vitriol very seriously. Enough to use extreme punishments to protect the guilty. Using fear of retribution to control thoughts. If you can't take the heat get out of the fire.

Not only religion, but politics as well.

Do they actually teach this kind of crap to cops?

How many people would actually believe this kind of bullying authority?

Fear is a wonderful motivator.

Informing the public of their rights is not on the agenda.

It's an easy thing to trigger people into saying or doing something stupid. A certain modicum of respect is required. But, if you are purposefully looking for trouble you just might find it. Certain things in a society do require responsibility. Privileges do apply. An example being driving a car: Giving a cop a hard time for being pulled over is stupid because you not only have to look out for yourself behind the wheel but everyone inside the vehicle as well as everyone around you. Pulling the sovereign card in this situation doesn't really apply. And it shouldn't. It's only when the police cross the line looking for more in the situation where it can mean something. Unfortunately, our society doesn't educate people correctly. Extreme Confrontational Situations seem to be the norm. This causes everyone involved to behave in a manner which is less than appealing. Losing all respect  towards each others side of the story in the process. Perhaps this is what people should really be offended about?!

Whooping should be banned beause it excludes deaf people, Nation Union of Students say

The motion calls for “reduced cheering or unnecessary loud noises on conference floor, including whooping and clapping” and warns of “consequences for those who ignore this requirement”. In the past, NUS events have banned clapping on the grounds that it might “trigger anxiety”.

Critics say that such behaviour is typical of the “snowflake generation” of students, who are seen as over-sensitive and quick to take offence.

Last week it emerged that Oxford University's Equality and Diversity Unit issued guidance to students advising them that students who avoid making eye contact with their peers could be guilty of racism.

The University of Glasgow started issuing “trigger warnings” for theology students studying the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, whereby students are told they may see distressing images and are given the opportunity to leave.

I just can't ignore this kind of idiocy. Clapping? WTF. Yes, this triggers me to say something about it. This goes below the level of mediocrity when so called 'leaders' come up with new rules and regulations to impose new behaviors on the majority. Idiocracy at its finest! Before anyone can shake a fist, breathing itself will be offensive. Oh wait...that dude over there has bad breath. Call the cops, garlic breathe over there offends me. He should be punished. What kind of person would even consent to enforce such garbage? Oh wait, I forgot...too many drones to count. I thought mediocre was at least being competent. Nope! Not any more. I suppose this term must be re-defined.

It's interesting that the spot light is on the Deaf community. I wonder what the story will be when the light shines on the Blind?
