The Mystery of the Cathedrals Revealed:

SYMBOLISM ON MONUMENTS
 
Whereas some people in the 17th and 18th centuries had little education, they were certainly well grounded in the scriptures and the catechism. Village schools had been set up from the times of the Reformation, so there were many people from humble homes who could read and knew the scriptures. The emblems of mortality and immortality were seldom used after the 18th century,but many other forms of symbolism were the stock-in-trade of 19th century monumental masons.

Darth Vader at Washington National Cathedral

 

In 1986, Washington National Cathedral added a carved “grotesque” of Darth Vader to its northwest tower as part of a nationwide contest to complete the Cathedral. who's countenance lives under these roofs? monuments to God? or monuments dedicated to the great god mammon? i think they have forgotten Christ and His example. they did this a long time ago. even before His story was told. hating what He stands for because it diminishes their own light. allowing others to see what it is that has been built. a great shining beacon of control. a lighthouse guiding the moths to ultimate destruction. what's hiding behind this bright light of being? a corrupted structure resembling a greedy dog...guarding it all.
