Historic Dates and Events Related to Vaccines and Immunization

It was not too many years ago when we celebrated the 200th anniversary of Edward Jenner's first smallpox vaccination in 1796. The development of vaccines continued at a fairly slow rate until the last several decades when new scientific discoveries and technologies led to rapid advances in virology, molecular biology, and vaccinology. The chart which follows displays many of the vaccine- and immunization-related events that have occurred since Jenner's critical discovery. This list is by no means exhaustive.

Probably because in the last several decades they realized vaccines can be used to exterminate a lot of people without firing one bullet. What could be better than people willingly shooting themselves?
