Aren't gas leaks as dangerous as oil leaks are to the environment? The birds and bugs are dropping like flies after eating poisoned shit.

Faulty gas pipes all over the region. Wonder how many more could spring leaks.


Building up the infrastructure is going to take a huge investment of resources and will power! I'm thinking the problem of disintegrating gas pipes and other structural problems goes beyond just Los Angeles...

I heard the gas company was going to replace over a thousand miles of pipe in California? What happened to that?

Thousands of residents are having to evacuate their homes. This cloud will spread over the whole of Los Angeles!

Utility is installing screens to contain oily mist



Southern California Gas Co. crews are erecting mesh screens around the utility's leaking natural gas injection well to prevent an oily mist from drifting off the site and across the nearby community of Porter Ranch, company officials confirmed on Monday.



The move comes as the company continues to fix a leaking natural gas well that has displaced thousands of residents, a process that is expected to take several more months.

This is a good way to get people to leave ranch areas. I wonder what kind of natural resources are up in Oregon with that other ranch to get the government to play such hardball.

Can you imagine what a methane cloud of flame looks like? Spewing out of the ground adding more and more fuel to these burning clouds of fire.



Will the pressure be enough to keep the flames above ground? Or will the fire travel down into the bowels of the earth and bring forth a mass eruption of shattering doom!

This was an amazing fire, and incredibly hot inside the chopper. Unfortunately, one person died after a crew installing power poles struck a 36 inch gas line. We see some amazing things from the helicopter, and our video was broadcast around the country.

That video only shows a gas fire out in the middle of nowhere. It's not hard to imagine having that happen on a block wide or more scale.
