We are also continuing to mobilize our resources to help the people in Ukraine. Our Microsoft Philanthropies and UN Affairs teams are working closely with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and multiple UN agencies to help refugees by providing technology and financial support for key NGOs and, where needed, we are defending these groups from ongoing cyberattacks.

McDonald’s didn’t just close 850 restaurants in Russia. It froze a whole 30-year investment.

Nearly two weeks after Russian troops invaded Ukraine, and after activists and investors pressed the company, McDonald’s announced Tuesday that it would temporarily close 850 restaurants in Russia. In the announcement, Chris Kempczinski, chief executive of McDonald’s, said, “Our values mean we cannot ignore the needless human suffering unfolding in Ukraine.” He also acknowledged the tight relationship that the chain has developed with Russians in the 32 years since the Golden Arches opened its first restaurant in 1990, when the country was still under Soviet control.

Corporations boycotting whole countries.
What if they start boycotting counties, states, and districts?
Will it be harder to get a Big Mac in a Republican/Democratic Zone depending on the constituency?

Microsoft makes viruses anyway the Russians could care less about them, they use Linux mostly anyway. They aren't dummies. Microsoft and their horrible system updates along with the massive amount of Microsoft Tracking Bullshit make them literally garbage for any serious computer person.

Burger King says it wants to shut down its 800 restaurants in Russia but it can't

Burger King's franchising agreement means it doesn't have unilateral control.
Papa John's has the same problem, with a rogue franchisee refusing to close.

What if banks and other financial institutions start boycotting individuals for 'bad behavior'?

Explained: All about Russia’s re-branded McDonald’s

McDonald's first entered Russia in 1990, with its first location opening on January 31 that year in Moscow’s Pushkin Square. In the next seven years, the company opened 21 locations across Russia. By the time it decided to fold operations in May this year, it had about 62,000 employees across the country.
