This article seems relevant. Considering how storage devices have changed over time. The trend for the future is leading us into an online storage solution. This leaves all your data in a 'storage unit' per se. Perhaps monthy charges will become a reality for cyber storage of all sorts.
 
Will the Internet ever become obsolete?
 
If you were to take many of your devices back in time, you'd have no way of connecting to "the Internet" as it existed then. Many old devices no longer work today without cobbling in new connections. And you can be pretty sure that many of your existing devices will gradually get less and less connectable as time goes on.

A collection of commercials for products which no longer exist. Sometimes the exact product is gone but the brand still exists, while in other cases both the brand and product are gone. (Note: am now aware Scotch Broth is still around, but YouTube won't let me edit the video) Most of these are from the 1950s.
